Subjects Taught
3rd Grade

My name is Cara Pierce and this will be my second year teaching 3rd grade here at LES. I began my teaching journey at LES in 4th grade, and taught in that grade level for 7 years. I have loved the transition to 3rd grade and can't wait to see what this new year holds!

I am a native of southern Indiana and grew up on a 400-acre farm with my parents, 2 older brothers, and my grandparents. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in reading from Purdue University (BOILER UP!), my Masters in Education with a focus on integrating technology in the classroom from Walden University, and my Education Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Piedmont College.

I have worked in many educational settings which have taken me to many places since graduating from college. Before accepting a teaching position in Gwinnett County in 2000, I had worked in the daycare industry, was a nanny, taught preschoolers how to use computers, was a substitute teacher in grades K-12, and was a remediation instructional assistant at the middle school level. In 2000, I moved to Gwinnett County and started teaching 4th grade. I taught there for six years before moving to Lavonia. From 2006-2008, I taught 4th grade at North Hart Elementary in Hart County. This will be my 9th year at Lavonia Elementary and I LOVE IT!

I live in Lavonia with my husband, Jeff, who is a native of Lavonia, and our three children - a daughter, Teague (age 9, 4th grader at LES) and two sons, Knox (age 8, 2nd grader at LES)  and Hampton (age 6, starting Kindergarten!). In my spare time (if there is such a thing with three small children!), I enjoy going to the beach, swimming, boating, visiting my family (here and in Indiana), going to Georgia football games, watching Purdue sports, reading, and playing with my kids. I LOVE teaching at Lavonia Elementary and look forward to many years of working here!
