Excited to join the Lavonia Family!

I am beyond excited to be joining the Lavonia family as your principal for the 2018-2019 school year. I can’t wait to get to know each of you and your children as the year progresses. While I am new to Lavonia and to Franklin County, I am not new to school administration. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University, my Master’s degree from Piedmont College and my Educational Leadership Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University.

I had the privilege of serving with Gwinnett County Public Schools for 15 years. I was a teacher in grades second and third for seven years before becoming an assistant principal in 2009. I continued to serve as an elementary school assistant principal for 8 years before relocating to Jackson County in 2017. When my family moved, I decided to accept a position closer to home and began teaching at East Jackson Elementary. While I thoroughly enjoyed my year back in the classroom, I was hopeful to return to school administration. My passion is leading teachers to help students grow so everyone can reach their full potential and school leadership provides an avenue to do just that.

I heard many wonderful things about Franklin County from fellow educators and friends so I decided to apply for the principal position here at Lavonia. I was thrilled to accept the position and really can’t wait to get the school year started. I will ask you to bear with me as I learn my new role at this wonderful school, but I will do my best to learn quickly. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there is something that I can help you with or if you would just like to stop by to meet me. Again, I look forward to working with each of you throughout the school year!

Can't wait to get started,

Jenica Johnson
